Popular “medium” Colin Fry passes away

TV medium Colin Fry dies aged 53

Fry appeared on several British TV shows, notably Most Haunted, one of the most influential shows in the “reality paranormal” genre. Fry died of lung cancer.

colin fryHe was one of the rare physical mediums in the 1990s. That is, the “Spirit operators” use their psychic energy to produce manifestations such as noises, objects and “ectoplasm”. Such performances went out of vogue after many such mediums were exposed as frauds in late 1800s – early 1900s.

Fry’s “psychic” power was never substantiated (none have ever been) and soundly debunked. For thoughtful comments on this see this Bad Psychics post from April.

Just to clarify Colin Fry never hosted Most Haunted. He may have appeared a couple of times – but he actually had his own Living TV show that was studio based and not ghosthunting related.

It strikes me as ironic , That when a famous Medium dies the rest come out of the woodwork and say things like ” He will be sadly missed” You’d have thought that they would still be able to keep in touch given the nature of their job

    Sorry, I will correct that.

Happily, he will live on as Tintin.

I think what’s sad about this story is that he told the lie until he died. He had an opportunity to own up and make peace with himself by telling the truth. He instead chose “the show must go on” taking advantage of vulnerable people right until the end.

No doubt he is now hearing the angels trumpets celebrating his arrival in heaven! A trumpet being one of his favourite things.

Don’t worry I spoke with him and he said not to worry he’s in a good place and everything will work out fine and no he can’t tell you where any buried treasure is or whether missing persons are alive or dead or relate any messages from the afterlife that may be of use to us. But rest assured he is happy and fine and gave many vague reassurances to people in this world (a couple whose name was M- or N-?) but I didn’t have time to write them all down.
