Regarding the Scott Wolter article, there seems to be a deep, soul-urge, amongst some Americans to replace ancient native history with ancient European history, either to make America seem more centrally connected to the recorded world history or to denigrate the pre-Columbian indigenous societies as being incapable of creating anything notable without the Old Worlds’ assistance.

For all the Grailers, Templar treasurers, and Jesus/Magdalene believers, all the good stuff started in the Middle East and moved to Europe post Roman Empire or post Crusades. Nothing happened in North America until the above conspiracies started drifting West on the Atlantic/Atlantis connection. It’s not so much a denigration of pre-Columbia America as complete lack of interest except where it can be shoehorned into their world view.

Not that such a view isn’t insulting enough on it’s own.
