Sounds like another humdinger. The Syfy network will air a two-hour special called “Aliens On The Moon: The Truth Exposed” on July 20 (the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing). The director is the guy from the Alien Autopsy video. Call me closed-minded but this CAN’T be good.
Produced by Robert Kiviat (who was also behind 1995’s controversial “Alien Autopsy” special), the documentary is supposed to include never-before-seen footage that will “show evidence of alien structures on the moon.” Other promoted highlights include information about a female alien being found on the moon and revelations about aliens seen in the cockpit of a flying saucer.
Perhaps most interesting is that the special will feature interviews with Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Edgar Mitchell “in which they share their belief in the existence of UFOs from first hand experiences.”
The story goes that once Buzz Aldrin did see something floating outside the ship. But that in no way says it’s of alien origin. Speculation is that he is hiding something. Of course, there’s a conspiracy afoot.
Mitchell already thinks there is a conspiracy and has been touting a lot of mystical things these many years.
I have to disagree with my friend Aaron Sagers of Paranormal Pop Culture here. This is not just in fun when people really believe this stuff. I don’t think speculation and nonsense is a good way to celebrate the anniversary of a very science-based project like our moon trips. But, as he notes, it’s on a science fiction channel, not Discovery Channel which is supposed to be more credible. However, I don’t think a significant percentage of the viewers will get that. They also think Ghost Hunters is real and sciencey.
I’m expecting this will also be controversial. Always good for ratings but not for society in general.
