We hear many stories about bodies remaining undiscovered for a long while. But 5 years in a closet is a really long time.
The Montgomery Coroner’s office told 2 NEWS the body found inside a home in the 200 block of South Harbine Avenue Sunday afternoon has been there for five years.
The body was found hanging in a closet, and according to the coroner, was leathery and skeletal.
“Because of the location where he was found, it was relatively protected, sunlight protected, temperature protected and low humidity,” said Dr. Kent Harshbarger, Montgomery County Coroner.
Dr. Harshbarger said he believes the body is that of 53 year-old Edward Brunton, based on identification and other paperwork found inside the home. Officials are still waiting for dental records to make a positive determination.
Neighbors reacted with shock that the body was there for 5 years before being found. But it sounds like this was a case of a lonely man who committed suicide. Perhaps the man had no family or friends who would miss him. Sad.
It’s similar to story we covered a while back about a woman who was found dead in her garage after 6 years.
