It IS good, innit? A mystery looping light captured on film (UPDATE: Solved, see comments)

UPDATE: Confirmed as part of an air show. See comments below.

Your thoughts on what this could be that a girl filmed out in the field beyond her home.

Katie Real: Northampton schoolgirl captures bizarre ball of light in the sky on camera.

11-year-old Katie Real and her sister Macie were playing with their mum Fiona’s laptop on Saturday when they spotted what looked like a ball of light dancing above a house outside, and quickly started filming.

‘I was looking out of my window and a large glowing ball of light caught my eye,’ said Katie.

‘It was moving very fast. I just grabbed my computer and started filming it.’

A ball of flame with a trail seems to come down from the clouds in the distance, spinning, doing circles and loop-the-loops.

The girls initially think it’s a shooting star, but it soon becomes clear that it’s something else.

At first the ball of light came out of the sky white-like. After some aerial dance moves it turned to a more red-ish color before disappaering.

Is it a kite with a flare? It does like like it’s on fire but could it be just reflective?

I’d also guess a reflective kite caught in a beam of sunlight.

My first thoughts are a remote control aircraft with a flare attached.

Yep, my first thought as well, or a kite. You see people with kites doing loops like that a lot.

Remote controlled reflective kites with flares? No way, its clearly a case of marsh gas or venus.

Thought it was a twilight zone reference in the title for a second there. :(

The last time we saw something like that they told us it was an out of control rocket launch.

Jeff Tower in the control tower said:
“We had a big exhibition on and it was part of a flying display at sunset.
The glider shoots out flames from its wings. It was part of an organised and controlled display.
We did it last year and again this year on Saturday.”

I found myself leaning my head to the right as the camera angle got worse and the glider went behind the window frame.
