Unfortunate resemblance may have nearly killed this cat

People can be sickening, especially when they project nonsense onto the innocent. Even animals. If it turns out that someone tortured this cat for the way he looks, beat him for no good reason, or just dumped him in a bin so injured, none of the above is justifiable.

Adolf Hitler lookalike cat beaten up and dumped in a Gloucester bin | Gloucester Citizen.

Cruel thugs took their anger out on a defenceless cat and left him for dead in a Tredworth bin – leaving its owner facing a £600 vet bill.

“I took a call at work from the vet to say he had been found in a bin, but was in a bad way. He had been there for a while. She took him straight to the vet for treatment. It is shocking someone would do something like that.”

Baz was taken for emergency treatment at Pets at Home in Bristol Road and underwent an operation on Wednesday.

The police are hoping witnesses come forward. Perhaps donors will help the owner with the considerable vet bills for the recovering feline who has lost an eye.

As commentators noted, we may not be justified in thinking that someone did this on purpose. It could have been an accident. However, the fact that he was found discarded but not dead does not bode well for an innocuous explanation.

In the history of humanity, people have used animals as scapegoats and considered some of them harbingers of evil or servants of the devil. They have been tortured and killed because of it. You’d think we’d be beyond that. No. People who deliberately hurt animals have psychological issues, lack of empathy for a living creature. I’d be concerned it could translate to a human situation as well. The police continue to investigate for good reason.

From the info given in the story how do we know the cat was beaten for its resemblance? It’s a sad fact that some people out there do not need a reason to hurt an animal…

Agreed. That was my first thought as well. Malicious people abuse animals all the time for no reason. Nothing in the story provides evidence of a connection between the cat’s appearance and the abuse.

As a skeptical website that promotes critical thinking, we shouldn’t pass on conjecture as fact.

Unwarranted interpretations on your parts: In the first paragraph of the article, “If it turns out that someone tortured this cat for the way he looks …”, hence raised the possibility but discussed other possible motivations also.

Since i get so many e mails & delete immediately after i read them, except if something important for reference, lost the source. However read there are several breeders deliberately trying to breed these “Hitler cats”, just as a special sub breed. Why i have no idea.

You may want to delete this person’s email from their name and replace it with something else.. after all, they receive a lot of emails apparently

Well they are daft as a brush, apparently. Said so themselves.

With all the animal and child cruelty stories coming up… it makes me concerned…

Actually, he’s not even accurately identified as a Hitler look-alike. He more closely resembles Groucho Marx, to my eye. Poor devil …ooops!… poor choice of words. Poor fellow has a charmingly innocent look about him, which could even have been yet another reason for the youngsters to pick on him.

Not wishing to revert to a primordial violent position in this case is most difficult. Upon discovering a person abusing an animal as such and me inquiring why, if the answer came back that it looked like Adolph Hitler, I would proceed to goose step for 1 hour upon thew assailant’s body proclaiming in a loud voice at the end that I was Kaiser Wilhelm the III. Is there no act of pain or cruelty that a human has NOT perpetrated upon another living entity?

It is all about perspective, that’s not Hitler, that is Charlie Chaplin!

“If it turns out that someone tortured this cat for the way he looks….”

Seems like a big if, imho.

There used to be a blog or tumblr or something that was just [owner-submitted] photos of cats with Hitler-mustache nose markings. There are a surprising number of these kitties.
