Chemtrail scare! It’s that damn dihydrogen monoxide!

It took me all of ONE MINUTE to find out this piece was entirely BULLSHIT.

BUSTED! Pilot Forgets To Turn Off CHEMTRAILS Before Landing.

A pilot of a commercial airliner made a mistake that irrefutably PROVES the existence of “CHEMTRAILS” — by forgetting to turn them off before he landed! We have video of the plane landing while still spraying CHEMTRAILS as it hits the runway. This is the first empirical evidence to back-up claims made people, smeared as “conspiracy-theorists,” who claimed airlines are being used by government to spray aerosols into the air without the knowledge or consent of the people being sprayed. With proof like this, the public now has legal standing to file lawsuits, utilize subpoenas and force discovery of evidence. The 1 minute blockbuster video appears below.

*UPDATE 1-May-2014 Various accounts have removed the video with copyright claims. This is unfortunate. Here is a still from the video.
photocontrail

I rarely say this out loud but SHUT UP YOU IDIOTS, you are making people stupid and scared.

The article (AHEM, Turner Radio Network is NOT a credible source) goes on to say the trails are unmistakable. And if you consider water a chemical which it is, this is sort of correct. Clearly there are trails from the plane. Contrails or condensation trails often come from the aircraft exhaust as the moisture heated by the plane condenses in the cold air up there. But it doesn’t just have to be from exhaust. It can be from the air disruption by the wings that cause vortecies in the air, change the pressure and cause… clouds. You can see this yourself if you are viewing the wing from inside the plane. There is nothing being sprayed from the plane.

Contrail – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

contrail607

The shapes and life of the trails vary based on the atmospheric conditions. In this case, the video CLEARLY shows a foggy humid condition. It’s probably going to storm here.

But what this mystery mongering source is on about is the “chemtrail conspiracy theory” – that the planes are spraying chemicals or biological agents secretly across the planet.

WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? HOW COME WE HAVE ZERO EVIDENCE OF SUCH A PLOT?

The chemtrail idea is so baseless, pointless and silly, but it’s popular, around since at least 1996.

An article in the Skeptical Inquirer said that the conspiracy theory was first started in the 1990s by “investigative journalists” like William Thomas, and then promoted in the late-night radio shows of Art Bell. The proponents claim that after 1995 contrails had a different chemical composition and lasted a lot longer on the sky; they never acknowledge the photographs of long-lasting contrails dating as far back as World War II.

There is so much speculative and wrongness going on about chemtrails. Maybe we should make a point to teach basic physics in school and nip this nonsense in the bud early.

By the way, I don’t allow conspiracy pushers on the site, go back to your dark forums – this is a science-based, reasonable site.

Check out this great site Contrail Science.

An aerodynamic contrail on a landing jet – condensation is visible above the wing surfaces, and in the center of the vortices coming from the outside ends of the deployed flaps, but nothing from the engines. This type of contrail is seen in high local humidity, as indicated here by the misty conditions. It's just lovely.

This video really is the perfect storm. Foggy, so at or near 100% Relative Humidity. It’s the use of the spoilers especially, the massive shedding of those vortices. It might be the poor quality of the video, but the creation of the fog is at it’s max during the flare just before touchdown, when the angle of attack, and therefore induced drag is going to be high. If it were mechanical chemical sprays, you probably wouldn’t see that difference.

‘Chemtrails’ have been appearing at public events like Formula 1 racing: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii14/defjam99b/Jerez_Vortices_01.jpg

What is wrong with the education these people have had who think condensation trails are ‘chemicals’. Water condenses out of air at it’s dewpoint which is dependant upon temperature, pressure and humidity (simplistically). Look up on the web for a Psychrometric Chart, something air conditioning engineers use all the time, and it shows the relationship with all the various ‘elements’ that make up the condition of air. Learn to use it and you can workout how air conditioning works, why water boils at a lower temperature on Everest and why we have condensate trails from aeroplanes. If you drive your car through mist it will sometimes create condensate trails from your wing mirrors. A little education goes a long way.

The information is available but conspiracy hawkers refuse to avail themselves of the actual authoritative info, their silly theories are much more fun.

We’re to be led to believe that “the government” is totally incompetent, except for hiding these conspiracies.

I saw the mentioned article earlier. I noticed the headline was under a dramatic looking photo but the article was about a badly shot film, at night on a digital camera and I didn’t really notice anything abnormal on it at all. I thought the photo was edited at first but then saw all the youtube videos showing condensation vortex’s and the explanation. I had never seen or heard of these before but literally a minute or two looking things up and it was obvious the article was complete crap. Do the people writing these articles about conspiracies genuinely believe them or just doing it for internet traffic?
They must get annoyed when they post something on facebook and the algorithms suggest related videos which are all debunkings or just the general information the conspiracy nuts seem to think is being hidden because they have never heard it.

Normally, the “but how could you keep everyone quiet?” argument is a stupid counterargument to conspiracy claims, but not for chemtrails; this is a conspiracy that would have to involve every single person in the airline industry – not just the pilots, but the entire cabin crew, ground crew, baggage handlers, aircraft manufacturers, everyone. All over the world.

Furthermore, for people who like to distrust the “official story”, chemtrail believers don’t seem too keen on doing research themselves. They just seem to repeat wild claims made by other believers, despite that doing your own investigation has never been easier. For example, if you see a plane leaving what you think is a chemtrail, finding out what plane it is is just a click away nowadays – there are web sites and apps aplenty where you can check exactly what’s above you at any moment (just google “flight radar” or something similar). Heck, you can set up your own ADS-B receiver with a $20 USB TV stick. Voilà! You have now pinpointed a specific plane involved in the conspiracy, and can investigate further. If you don’t trust transponders, you can set up a network with your fellow believers and track them with your Mk I eyeballs (e.g. “disguised military/Illuminati/Monsanto/lizard people plane spraying chemicals over me now, red stabilizer, flying ENE – you should see it in 20 minutes”). This could be performed as literal armchair research. This is research you can do while drinking beer. Yet somehow, I have never seen it done.

do you notice how some days there are trails and others no trails? does that make any sense?

Yes, actually. Conditions in the atmosphere change daily.

Chemtrails have more to do with class identity and religion than physics.

Conspiracy theory is not something that will be fixed by science outreach. It is a political issue.

    • Travis
      April 30, 2014 at 1:42 PM

I disagree, here. I think science education and specifically critical thinking + early learning of pseudoscience will lead to a smarter society that rejects these stupid ideas more and more. I really think there should be a critical thinking course in high school on just this topic.

I also think holding providers of alternative medicines, psychics, etc. should be held more accountable for lying or making vague claims about health benefits. Teaching everyone critical thinking should come first, but holding others more accountable should also be implemented in some way

      • spookyparadigm
        April 30, 2014 at 2:25 PM

It isn’t an issue of stupid. It’s an issue of people finding ways of performing their identity.

It might help in some individual cases. But we’ve been banging the drum on critical thinking for decades now, and it isn’t like America has become less conspiracy theory prone.

For alt-med to some degree, for paranormal/crypto/etc. to a much larger degree, I think that science education matters.

But when it comes to the political, you’re hitting other buttons, and conspiracy theory is political. For example, the issue with chemtrails is less that someone could or could not be spraying something into the air, but whether or not they are. It’s an absurd idea, because of all the people involved etc., as noted above. But someone who believes in chemtrails is likely to already be on the bandwagon of political conspiracies anyway.

Now, where this might help is stopping it from being a gateway drug. As Barkun writes about, UFOs have acted as a gateway to extreme politics, and some fringe groups have even used it that way deliberately. From this perspective, yes, it might help some people.

But I honestly expect most chemtrails people aren’t going to give up conspiracy theory if you show them the physics. They have other reasons for their theories, and will just move the target phenomenon to morgellons, or antivax, or fluoride, or birtherism, or implanted microchips, or Agenda 21 or etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.etc. etc.

Sharon, I’m afraid it’s time for me to come clean. It’s been twenty five years, and I can’t keep this horrible secret any more. All of those rumours about chemtrails are absolutely true. The chemicals are stored in the pylons, and released only when the airplane is leaving contrails, so that it looks like regular contrails. The switch is disguised as something else, so that the pilots don’t necessarily have to be in on it.

And, pout, my comment got tagged for moderation, ruining my little joke. Anyway, I was going to say, if you believe my comment, then you probably shouldn’t be allowed to ride the bus by yourself. One of the things I used to do in the hangar was pull out the two fire bottles in the engine pylon (the streamlined thing that the engine hangs from). That left a fairly large, empty, metal area that could reasonably hold a fair bit of liquid. It even had a drain. I was going to take a photo of the space, and post it on one of the chemtrail sites, just to stir things up. Unfortunately, the opportunity never arose, and I no longer do that sort of work.

If I remember right some of the first chem-trail “discoverers” were selling a chelation therapy to cure what the trails caused. Homeopathic silver I think. It may still be advertised somewhere out there.

Ben Bradley calls it right–it looks more like whoever posted this rather poor video is mostly trying to get so-called “chemtrail” people to start using the court system. Which would tie up US courts and waste a lot of money. Is it possible that this chemtrail conspiracy is a scheme by terrorists to foul the works of the US by taking advantage of ignorant people? Which would make it a conspiracy conspiracy!

  12. April 30, 2014 at 7:35 AM

This video is a demonstration of how near sturated (100%) relative humidity (fog) can form normal vapor trails when wing vortices drop the atmospheric pressure .

[Editor: I let this through because it was not nasty but it's from a chemtrails proponent. The website is utter nonsense.]

  13. April 30, 2014 at 7:42 AM

Wiki photo in this article is showing an aerosol emission, not a normal contrail. (1) the invisible vapor gap is too short. It should be 1.5 times the wing-span before it becomes visible as ice crystals (2) The trails are not uniform. The inboards engine trails appear fatter even while all the engines are manufactured to identical specs (3) The trail appears to be a “persistent contrail”…not just a water vapor contrail. This event is extremely unlikely at altitudes above 30,000, especially in a sky that is bright blue.

    • Kurt
      April 30, 2014 at 10:14 AM

The contrail is caused by the compression of the air, and would thereby be related to engine force (mass and speed) not an arbitrary factor like the wingspan. And the inner engines are closer to the body, and therefore more disrupted by the air wake of the plane.

Why are you even making up these arbitrary rules about contrails? Are you parroting someone else?

    • April 30, 2014 at 1:18 PM

Nonsense. This is a science-based site not speculative paranoia.

The truth is out there, how can you all be so deceived? Don’t respond, because I know the answer.

I do research in the area of pharmacoepidemiology (real fact), and I have been doing studies, covertly, on the effects of chemtrail spraying on human beans for 15 of the last 7 years. Specifically, I have discovered that a common component of chemtrails is a compound called antignosisazaprine (AGA) binds, with a high degree of specificity, to a new receptor in the Gnosis family. This compound blocks the ability to detect conspiracies and prevents acceptance of the improbable. The fact that you all refuse to acknowledge the existence of a chemical weapons program aimed at rendering the population docile is proof of the fact that it exists. Every time that somebody makes a post declaring Chemtrails to be pseudoscience, or just rubbish conspiracy ravings is in fact proof that they are real.

If you take the time to tabulate the number of anti-chemtrail webpages, posts, and comments, and correlate them to the rise in the number of pro-chemtrail web pages, comments, and posts, you will see that the Pearson correlation coefficient is positive and rising. Calculating the p-value of association between the two approaches one as time goes on. This is conclusive, scientific, statistical proof that the effects of AGA are exactly what I say they are, and that as AGA spraying increases, so does the level of CDP (i.e. Chemtrail Denialist Propaganda).

Interestingly enough, I have also been able to measure the presences of an AGA derivative called AGWWEF (anthropogenic global warming warning expression factor) in the chemtrail emissions, and have seen the levels of this new azolibralycopanthicose related chemical increasing in areas along the coastlines, most notably in California. I believe this to be closely tied to efforts by the criminal corporate elite to extort money from the masses, to make the cower in fear, and to comply with what they claim to be “environmentally responsible” legislation, a euphemism for a new form of indentured servitude.

I never even considered that possibility. There was a time when I would have taken what you just wrote and took it as another joke, but, honestly, you are absolutely correct. Hopefully the fact that that chemical exists only in the mind of the vapour trails will keep people from trying to peddle my nonsense as anything but that. Then again, 11 of the 12 authors on the Andrew Wakefield paper retracted their support for the article, it has been thoroughly debunked and removed from the accepted academic canon, and yet it is still one of the most highly cited articles on vaccines.

Damn it, video removed. Now how will the masses ever hear about antignosisazaprine and the other azolibralycopanthicose derivatives. I have lost all control of this narrative. It is all part of the conspiracy to silence me!

If you do not hear about these compounds in the Lame Stream Media within a fortnight, then you will know, that I have been silenced, that the conspiracy to bury my findings has been successful, and that the bloody hearts of the liberal controlled media have joined forces to bury me.

I must now flee. I can hear the engines of vehicles, no doubt the engines of drones hidden among them. Where to hide – google maps knows wherever I am. I urge you all, to spread the word, they are spraying antignosisazaprine, and azo-5-arationalisamine, amongst other thought blocking compounds that I have just made up into the drinking water, the skies, they have even dumped it onto the moon, trying to kill the Greys and the Ayn Randians.

(Bleeding hearts, of course they are full of blood, is that not what they are supposed to do)
