Staten Island’s creepy clown is viral marketing for business

More evil clowns. I hate this stuff, no matter what it’s for.

Maybe he’s trying to get a few laughs, but there have been several reports of a mysterious clown wandering the borough, and he seems to be spooking Staten Islanders on social media.

Apparently, this three-ring circus has been busted.

Creepy viral clown may be linked to film company | New York Post.

[...]The Post has learned that the Staten Island residents who sparked the creepy viral phenomenon are all tied to the same boro-based horror movie production company.

Four people had photographic evidence of the clown. Vincent Innocente, Robert Privitera and Michael Leavy are all friends with each other on Facebook and linked with Fuzz on the Lens Productions along with comedian Vic Dibitetto.

Leavy was quoted:

“It’s a small island and we’ve been trying to get as many people associated with Fuzz on the Lens as possible,” said Leavy.

“… tied to the same boro-based horror movie production company.” So should they be expecting to receive a lawsuit, for copying the look of Tim Curry’s character in “Stephen King’s It”?

He doesn’t look enough like Pennyworth. On the other hand being sued by Staten Island authorities for pulling this stunt could hurt their advertising budget even more.

I’d like to know if any actual laws were broken. I’m a bit dubious that “Wearing clown costumes in public” is, or should be, outlawed.

But I thought the only professional clown on Staten Island was former congressman and borough president Guy Molinari.

Now all I need is for it to morph into a clown-spider hybrid, and everyone can watch as a 6’3, 245 lb., man sucks his thumb in the fetal position in the corner while frantically humming “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

As to what law was broken? He turned the detour sign towards the river. OH those clowns are SO funny!

Whenever I see something along these lines on YouTube, Facebook, etc. I tend to believe it’s faked. Either somebody doing it for laughs or as part of a marketing scheme, trying to go viral. With the Today Show and other ‘news programs’ having segments showing the latest ‘viral videos’ people looking to plug something are thrilled when they can fool folks into spreading their material.
