Chupacabra Sighting? – Crossroads Today

Many believe the Chupacabra is a mythical creature but one Victoria County couple said they think one was killed on their property Sunday night. Doug and Lucy Ohrt live on a ranch in Victoria County and said Sunday evening they came face to face with a strange looking animal.

Lucy Ohrt said it’s features, like long legs, and big teeth, raise big questions about whether or not it is a coyote.

“It’s usually got long hair on it and this one doesn’t and that’s what makes it different from a regular coyote”

Josh Turner, Wildlife Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife,  said he gets quite a few calls from people saying they have seen a Chupacabra. He is very clear this is another mangey coyote. Mange is caused by mites. That can be spread to other animals including pets so it is best that these animals be put out of their misery as they are in a weakened state and may act aggressive. But they are not mythical monsters.

    Bipedal? no
    Spikes on back? no
    Long clawed fingers? no

Some people just don’t know fake chupacabra when they see it.
