Hawaii lawmaker scares people about cell phone use

Another crank call for cell phone warning labels.

Your cell phone will come with a warning label, sort of like a pack of cigarettes, if one Hawaii lawmaker gets his way.

Sen. Josh Green not only wants people to think about that electromagnetic radiation but also to change their cell phone habits because of it.

“Keep your cell phone at least a centimeter away for health purposes,” said Green.

Studies so far have not shown a consistent link between cell phone use and cancers of the brain, nerves, or other tissues but many organizations want more research done.

The research so far has NOT shown any link and we’ve been using cell phones for decades now. We should have seen some correlation. This is fear mongering. Should laws be based on speculation? Especially when there are far more hazardous things out there without (likely useless) warning labels. If research ever does show that there is a correlation, then that is the time to take some action, not stick warning labels on. Lawmakers do the strangest things…

    Absolutely not. Are they? Yes. All
    The time.

    -Creationism/ID laws.
    -What constitutes life.
    -When does life begin.
    -Rape and sexual abuse cases.
    -Pretty much every law based on a tradition of superstition, religious sentiment, or ideology that isn’t falsifiable.
