What is this nunsense? Woman of the order was unaware of pregnancy.

Notice that no one seems to be claiming “miraculous birth”. More like ignorance about how reproduction works. Very sad.

BBC News – Nun who gave birth in Italy ‘unaware of pregnancy’.

A nun who gave birth to a baby boy in the central Italian city of Rieti, said she had no idea she was pregnant, local media report.

The 31-year-old was rushed to hospital with abdominal pains, which she thought were stomach cramps.

The young mother, who is originally from El Salvador, reportedly named her newborn Francis after the current Pope.

What happened to her? Did she give consent? Who was it? Was she that unaware of sex and procreation? If so, this is a travesty and someone should be held accountable. Living a life of ignorance for basic human biology because religion is more important is pretty damn sick.

On the flip side, it appears she will be well taken care of but will have to leave the order to live a secular life. How prepared is she for that?

Even in modern life, woman still report virgin births.

It’s interesting that this woman will be kicked out the door faster than pedophile priests are, and with more judgement too.

Sadly have to agree with you there Martin, but some of the Nunneries, & Sisterhoods will take her under their protection, possibly.probably with a lifetime of drudgery & hard graft, & continual reminder of her sins. Again think it’s a shortcoming of sexual & relationship education in extreme religious communities, & then the poor women blanking the experience from their memories for fear of either or both divine intervention or beatings & “correctional” treatment by the sisterhood.

There are certain places in Europe, near monasteries, and such where the good sisters would go to meet their lovers.

They’re usually in close proxcimity to the mass graves of their unwanted children. There’s nothing new, here.

On a more modern note, I knew a girl from Ferdinand, IN who was completely aghast that she was pregnant.

The sisters at the school there told her that if a boy kisses you that you’ll get pregnant. She believed them. She was completely befuddled. How could she be pregnant? She never kissed him!

This wasn’t that long ago, either. It occurred in 1987 or 88, give or take.

It’s either another immaculate conception or it was “Father In”.

I don’t see what it had to do with the Immaculate Conception. I know of no claims that St. Anne didn’t have sex with St. Joachim nor that the baby born to this nun was without Original Sin.

This would have to have been a very large nun for her or her peers to have not noticed a very obvious pregnancy bump.

I assume she conceived the natural way though it’s not clear if she was a nun or not at the time. 31 isn’t old by nun terms – around these parts they are considered sprightly if they’re under the age of 70.

You really should update your reading material. The Awful Disclosures of Maria Monk, Alberto, and Jack Chick have all been thoroughly discredited.

Will do. Do you have a link, or a study that you could point too? Please and thank you. ;-)
