Alleged psychic Mitchell heads to jail, is apologetic

In an update to this story about the conviction of psychic Sylvia Mitchell, she heads to jail.

Sylvia Mitchell Update: “Sorry” NYC psychic gets 5 to15 years in prison for conning clients – Crimesider – CBS News.

Sylvia Mitchell, a New York City psychic convicted of conning clients for tens of thousands of dollars, was sentenced Thursday to 5 to 15 years in prison.

Mitchell must also pay restitution to two victims following her grand larceny conviction last month.

Mitchell, who was jailed after her October conviction, said the time behind bars forced her to her reflect.

“I have had a lot of time to think and I realize that what I have done is wrong. I just want to be with my children, go back to school … start my life over again,” she told state Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro at her sentencing. “… I’m sorry.”

It was a sweet deal she had going. I’m not clear if she thinks she really did have this special power or if she was just faking the whole time. Will she change? I hope so. There is zero evidence of psychic power, curses and bad juju. None of these so-called psychics are telling that real truth but they still are making a handy profit off vulnerable people.

Oopsy is not enough. Now if she did her time and spent the rest of her life exposing psychics and speaking out against them, then I might think she was sorry.
