Spooky travel recommendation from “existential experts”

What the hell is an “existential expert”? This press release shows that ghost tours aren’t just for Halloween anymore, they are a key tourist draw.

Viator.com Adds New Ghost Tours and Spooky Travel Experiences.

Friday the 13th is the perfect day to shriek the word on a new collection of ghostly goodies on sale now from the team at Viator.com, the leading resource for researching and booking tours and activities worldwide. Hand-selected by Viator’s “existential experts,” this new crop of creepy delights complements Viator’s savory selection of ghost walking tours, ghoulish explorations and cemetery visits that take travelers inside the dark side in cities around the world.

Viator, calling themselves “the world’s leading resource to discover and book travel activities” curates these choices. It’s clear that paranormal tourism (which is one of my pet topics) is HUGE and getting bigger. Every town now has a collection of creepy stories and haunted locations. In so many cases, the haunting is heavily embellished without warrant or even made up entirely. Ghost tours are people telling stories, they are not verified. But, they can be fun for some. I prefer more real history than trumped up ghostly stuff.

Even the team at Viator.com felt the need to add quotes around “existential experts.” Their way of saying “we’re being ironic here?” Or maybe they mean they’re “just kidding?”

Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir (one of my all time favorite philosophers) are, or rather were, “existential experts.”

The rest are cheap hacks. 😉
