Ok, who lost their red surfboard?

Windsurfing projectile hits car.

A man was driving along a Honolulu freeway over the weekend when a surfboard crashed through the windshield just inches from his face, leaving him with only scratches on his face and arms.

Jerrin Ching was driving on the H-1 freeway Sunday morning when the red surfboard came out of nowhere and pierced through the glass.

There is a news report here that is quite interesting. Have a look to see what the inside of the car looked like! He claims “someone was watching over” him. No, it was just a freak accident as the board fell off the overpass, hit a bus and impaled the windshield. What if there had been a passenger? Not a good result. No one knows where the surfboard came from but because it was made of styrofoam (polystyrene?), it was taken by the wind. But still, it broke the glass. Amazing.

I’m reminded of a Mythbusters episode in which a similar scenario was tested in a recreation of a scene from Lethal Weapon II. They “busted” the myth, but it involved specific circumstances, including the surfboard being launched from the top of a halted oncoming vehicle. Altering the parameters with a slingshot-launched surfboard resulted in confirmed lethality.
