I can’t tolerate exorcism. We are out of the Dark Ages, one would hope. But Larson panders to fear and dirty old men with his girl group brandishing their religious paraphernalia and bouncy hair on TV and where ever else they can put on their show.
Rape victims are highly prone to catching sexually transmitted demons. Not metaphoric demons, but genuine soul-dwelling incarnations of Satan. That’s the message being peddled by the ‘teenage exorcists’, three highly marketable home-schooled bible-bashers from Arizona.
The pretty trio, who have drawn inevitable comparisons to Buffy, are the latest gimmick from controversial evangelist and exorcist, Bob Larson. The youngest, Brynne Larson, is his daughter and the other two, Tess and Savannah Scherkenback, are her friends.
A recent VICE documentary followed the teenage exorcists, as they tour the world banishing evil spirits. And yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds.
Larson’s own show was cancelled before it began (in fact, right at premier time) because of his ideas about homosexuality being of the devil. As the author notes in this piece, she is appalled by the use of nonsensical exorcism ritual on people who clearly need mental help. She notes it is offensive. I bet. I find anyone who hints at or attempts an exorcism to be offensive. Who the hell do you think you are? There are no demons. They do not possess people. There is zero dispute about this in a reality-based world. But if you DO think there are demons, why are you so special? Oh, like Larson, you’ve been “trained”? How disgustingly arrogant, as Larson is. Anyone who thinks they need an exorcism, or perhaps other people think they need one, is in dire need of psychiatric help, not spiritual rituals or some self-important folks thinking they are demon-fighters and can cast out evil with silly screaming and scripture.
I feel ill. This makes me so angry. These girls and their “keeper” Larson, make me sick. They’ve been making the round for a while now. Years. They didn’t get their own TV show. Yet. When does it end?
