Ebba himself says he’s a whopping 160 years old, even though there is no birth certificate to prove his claim, according to Opride.com
Ebba made the statement in a video for Oromiya TV. The reporter was so impressed by his knowledge about local history, that he was convinced that the retired farmer must be 16 decades old.
The reporter was especially impressed by Ebba’s alleged memories of Italy’s 1895 invasion of Ethiopia.
“When Italy invaded Ethiopia I had two wives, and my son was old enough to herd cattle,” Ebba said, according to Mohammad Ademo, who translated the story for Opride.com
We wrote about another candidate for world’s oldest person last month, Carmelo Flores Laura who claims to be 123 years old.
Ebba’s claim does seem to be quite a stretch. 160 years old is really old. That’s almost 40 years more than the oldest known person who ever lived, Jeanne Calment who died at 122 years old.
Another problem with Ebba’s claim is that are no records to prove it. Being good at remembering historical facts is not the same as verifying one’s age. Otherwise, historians can claim to be thousands of years old. This also happens with past-life regression/reincarnation claims.
By the way, the current Guiness record holder is Misao Okawa who is now 115 years old.
