Parents harm children by refusing vitamin shots

Ignorance of your parents can lead to your brain hemorrhaging…

TN newborns get rare bleeding disorder after parents refused vitamin K shots | The Tennessean |

A bleeding disorder in babies so rare that it typically affects fewer than one in 100,000 is becoming more common in Tennessee because parents are refusing vitamin K injections at birth, according to pediatric specialists.

Since February, four babies with no signs of injury or abuse have been sent to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with either brain hemorrhages or bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Robert Sidonio Jr., a hematologist, diagnosed them with vitamin K deficiency bleeding.

After discovering that all four had not received the preventive treatment, which doctors have been giving to newborns since the 1960s, he started making inquiries. Pediatricians told him parents are increasingly refusing consent because of concerns based on misinformation or the goal of having natural childbirths.

Doctors noted that refusal of these shots ramped up around 2009 but in the past 12 months, it has REALLY increased. Two reasons for the refusal is that shots hurt and that the preservatives may be harmful. Yep, shots hurt for a second. Surgery for brain hemorrhages? Well, you decide what’s worse. The latter, harmful preservatives, is TOTAL BUNK. Thanks Jenny McCarthy – misinformation queen.

Ignorant parents are harming their kids. Guess what? Natural isn’t better! Nature can kill you. Medicine saves you. Get a CLUE.

Even vitamin supplements? If you are a big nature lover, shouldn’t you love vitamins too?

It might be the real basis for so much of this is baby-needle = bad, hence shorting out people’s thinking. That, and they really don’t remember what marvelous measles really did, or popular polio.

Nature, left to its own devices, used to kill almost as many babies as it made. you could make the case the surplus was only so it didn’t run out, and it was more in the game to kill the maximum amount possible.

Life doesn’t look like that to you? Well, that’s because we don’t leave nature to its own plague-creating, kitten-killing ways, any more than we don’t leave accident victims to bleed out by the side of the road.

Maybe doctors need to rebrand the shots as “liquid K-rystal organic acupuncture energy brain vibration tuning” when they are refused.

    It’s negligence plain and simple.

I’ve often said you should need a license to have a baby.

It amazes me that parents would be so reckless in risking their baby’s life when a simple injection would diminish that risk. The comments attached to the story are very depressing since you can just see the woo that “informs” some of these opinions.

Which of the 4 comments indicated a belief in “woo”…?
