Was the beast of Bodmin the inspiration for The Hound of The Baskerville, or is it the other way around?

I JUST read a great book on black dogs not too long ago where this was discussed. Unfortunately, I’m not home right now to consult it. But many of the towns had version of a grim or black shuck. Therefore, I think inspiration was drawn from those tales for the story. I also recently read the story as well and, maybe it’s just me, but I was not too impressed. It was “OK”. I may be just hard to impress. 😛

    Thanks for the information.

You may want to watch the newest BBC adaptation, Sherlock. They do a great version of the story. I can’t remember which season?

They portray Holmes as a highly functional sociopath. It’s a great twist on the Holmes mythology.
