And this new one about being labeled a Bad Guy (Girl) Skeptic. Burning the Mean and Disparaging Skeptic Straw Man – CSI.

Here is your chance to DO something. Action Needed! Burzynski Infomercial to Appear on Colorado Public Television | The Houston Cancer Quack.

I think it’s important to note that everyone is skeptical of something. It’s wether or not a topic is deserving of that skepticism that is the million dollar question.

I think it’s also worth mentioning that unless people (skeptics) apply skepticism to their personal beliefs, no matter how sacred, then they have no right to ask others to do the same.

True skepticism is exhausting. I’m constantly falsifying my beliefs, daily. I do this because I don’t think it’s fair, or ethical of me to ask that of others, if I’m too hypocritical to do it myself.

I do find the “open-minded” comments funny. When I hear someone trot out their favorite explination for an event I usually ask “What other possibilities have you considered?” to which the answer usually is “What else could it be? It’s obviously a ghost/UFO/demon etc.”

When I suggest other possibilities, that all need to be investigated, and eliminated until the best evidence suggest the best possible candidate I usually hear “You’re just trying to explain “it” away. You need to be more open-minded”

I don’t think it ever dawns on them that exploring other possibilities IS being open-minded.
