Dogs are claimed to be missing. One is dead. But is something more going on? Or less?
Idaho authorities are investigating the mysterious disappearances of nearly 40 dogs, including one that died in a suspected ritual killing.
Reuters reports the dogs have gone missing over the past few months in the Magic Valley region.
“The dogs seem to vanish into thin air,” Debbie Blackwood, director of the Twin Falls animal shelter, told Reuters.
The dogs have reportedly been lured into vans and never seen again.
It’s not suspected that the dogs were used for fighting.
One German shepherd was found with its head crushed with a stone and its body covered with a purple blanket in what authorities say was a “ritualistic execution.” Other dogs were found with their mouths duct-taped shut and their teeth filed off.
Disturbing but we are left with many questions. I’m not clear why the dead dog discovery was labeled “ritualistic”. The other dogs are supposedly described to have been stolen by a red van, but it’s not clear how many of these stories are verifiable or connected. Not from this article at least. I can’t help but think there was something missing from this story. Keep in mind that the media loves to suspect Satanic cults at work but there is no evidence these actually exist. Likewise, people suspect Satanists because the media has made this a popular subject. There is no evidence for that. Few details exist in this story except they made sure to include that area was known as the Devil’s Corral.
So, I went looking for more sources and found this: TWIN FALLS, Idaho: Rumors of missing dogs abound in Idaho town | State | Idahostatesman.com.
Law enforcement officers around Twin Falls are asking people to make police reports if their animals go missing, because despite a rash of rumors about disappearing dogs in the region, police have no real evidence of an ongoing problem.
So, it does seem to be blown out of proportion and pattern seeking.
