Burglary suspect brought in by (god-damned) Batman (UPDATE: Identified)

Police in Trafalgar House station got a bit of a surprise on February 25th. Who was this retro masked man? An undocumented employee of the West Yorkshire police? A cosplayer? A vigilante? Maybe the Commissioner knows but I hope this doesn’t catch on, it could get ugly.

BBC News – ‘Batman’ brings in suspect to Bradford police.

A man dressed as the caped crusader Batman has handed over a wanted man at a Bradford police station before disappearing into the night.

Didn’t they ask any questions? Is this the first time this has happened?

Batman vigilantes are around but aren’t very helpful.

The real-life superhero hung around long enough to ensure that the suspected burglar was arrested and properly charged with handling of stolen goods and other fraud related offenses, but then quickly made away into the dark without leaving a trace.

Christian Bale, he is not but, Dude, good on ya, just be careful. Oh, and black socks, not white.

UPDATE (5-Mar-2013) We have an ID on the caped crusader.

Chinese takeaway delivery driver Stan Warby has come forward to say that he is the mystery man who handed over a suspected criminal to police while dressed as the Caped Crusader.

The 39-year-old reportedly said he had been at a football match dressed as the superhero when a friend called him and asked for help in handing himself in to officers.
