Meryl Dorey resigns from AVN

Dave, the Happy Singer, has the news…

The AVN’s announcement: Meryl gives her Crayons to Greg – Dave The Happy Singer.

Meryl Dorey has resigned as president of the AVN.

Her replacement is the splendidly eccentric Greg Beattie.

Here is the AVN’s announcement of the news:

Greg Beattie, long-time vaccine researcher and author of two books, the latest of
which guides readers through an in-depth analysis of the benefits of vaccination
with a focus on Australia, has stepped in to fill the role of President of the
Australian Vaccination Network, Inc. (AVN). This position was recently vacated by
Meryl Dorey, who resigned effective January 1, 2013

The AVN has been weakened considerably over the past few years by skeptical activism in Australia. The group is anti-vaccination but claims to be pro choice. Just recently, they were ordered to change their name because it was misleading.

Check out the Skeptic Zone podcast for the full story on the downfall of the AVN.

Good riddance but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem that this organisation and others like it should starved of the oxygen of publicity until they are dead. Simply put, any news outlet running a piece seeking “balance” should learn what it means instead of giving equal weight to the opinions of cranks especially on health related matters.

I see on FB, Mad Meryl has changed her FB name to MD as she continues to parcel out bad vaccine advice. She doesn’t have an honest bone in her body. The posts look as if they are recommendations by an actual medical doctor.
