Obama: Accused of being a real life Storm from X-Men

Conspiracy Theorists Say Obama Engineered Hurricane Sandy.

As Hurricane Sandy blasts the eastern seaboard just over a week before Election Day, a number of conspiracy theorists have decided President Barack Obama engineered the mega-storm to secure his re-election.

HAARP, a research program managed by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, studies and conducts experiments relating to the ionosphere, or upper atmosphere. As NASA explains on its web site, the ionosphere is important because it often reflects radio waves and scatters GPS signals, leading to “a big impact on communications and navigation” on Earth.

Because of this, conspiracy theorists have blamed HAARP for a number of natural events over the years, saying the government uses the Alaska-based program to manipulate the weather with the help of electromagnetic waves.

“Following the ‘perfect storm,'” wrote Infowars’ Kurt Nimmo, “the establishment media will naturally provide all the propaganda Obama needs to sweep the election on Tuesday, November 6, a week after the hurricane is projected to hit.”

As proof, Nimmo noted that HAARPStatus.com, a site that claims to detect frequency on the ionosphere, is reporting unprecedented levels of HAARP frequency above the Eastern coast. HAARPStatus.com appears to be a site not actually associated with HAARP.

All day long I’ve been seeing this nonsense spread around the social media (mostly as a joke). It’s a ridiculous manufactured idea with no basis in reality. What is the evidence to think that we would have anywhere NEAR the capability to do such a thing and that anyone would want to? Only in their science fictionalized minds where everyone is out to get you.

If you go through the world thinking that the president can/would cause billions in damage and randomly kill people for reelection, you’re in a sad state of irrationality. The reality is, nature will often appear to conspire to kill us all, not with intent though, with laws of thermodynamics, chemistry and biology.

    Metabunk addressed this stuff: http://metabunk.org/threads/385-Debunked-HaarpStatus-com

Post #32 is a textbook conspiracy rant. Then he goes way off the deep end.

Drone strikes seems to be politically popular, so presidents do engage in murder to win elections. The Afghanistan and Iraq wars, while not necessarily merely to win elections, didn’t hurt Bush’s chances much. Romney is campaigning on more military might, not less. (I don’t buy that Obama is manipulating the weather to win elections, however.)

As frustrating as it is reading these nut-job theories, it is pure comedy gold. Thanks for the pick-me up.

Notice Obama didn’t use his weather wizard wand to destroy North Korea. Must be the same wand Bush used to destroy New Orleans. Are we to believe American presidents only use the weather to destroy American cities instead of making it rain in areas which need rain?

And I thought the 2011 drought here in Texas was God punishing us for Rick Perry… to think, it was Obama all along.

Rick Perry isn’t punishment enough all by himself?

Obama strikes me as more of an Iceman type than Storm. He just sort of blasts you with those cold rays. Romney, on the other hand, could actually be Beast. Highly acrobatic, that Mitt is.
