and the huge following of the Bad Astronomy blog, American Airlines has decided not to air the AVN interview or include the information in their print magazine.
Tip: Phil Plait
Definitely a win!!! Rational voices sounding off together CAN make a difference.
Thanks to all who retweeted the original post here on DN. As you may know, American Airlines took notice. Phil’s post was the final straw, I assume.
Yesterday Bangalow-based president of the group Meryl Dorey said the decision was frustrating and the result of an infuriating letter-writing campaign by opponents of her group who did not believe in the freedom of expression or alternate views in a democracy.
“It’s frustrating,’” she added
“This is the sort of thing they do.
“It’s not something that would be of benefit in a democracy to stifle a debate.”
Dear Meryl: That was a profoundly silly thing you just said. There is no debate. You are perfectly free to express your views in other places that will have you or on your own ground. American Airlines is a business that chose not to be associated with said views. The science, however, is very soundly on the side of immunization.
