UFOs over Mexico City. Ooh. Shiny.

UFO News: Mexico City OVNI Enhanced and… | Gather.

Unique UFO footage of an object hovering over Mexico City, and filmed from two different angles, has been enhanced and poses more questions than answers. What is it?

The two videos are strung together in a 4-minute sequence with a magnified image in the lower right corner. The OVNI mystified witnesses for days after it was first posted on YouTube on March 13, 2012. [sic]Without the enhancements, it’s easier to say it’s just a balloon, but even without the magnification no one was able to explain how the object hovered in one place for so long.

The enhanced version dispels any notion that the object is a balloon as it changes shape, displays onboard lights and what look like the windows of a ship.

Tip: Fortean Times

I really dislike linking to posts from Gather or The Examiner because they are often very poor sources. But, i haven’t linked to a UFO in a while and i want to remind new visitors what today’s UFO videos usually look like.

Balloons or floating bags.

The first clip in the video looks very much like a silver star shaped balloon. Notice that those are not lights but sun reflections. Always from the same direction, behind the cameraman.

The second clip is different. I’m not sure what this is. Too hard to tell. But it is interesting that these are not the flying saucers of old. They are more ethereal, changing things. There is no justification to use these videos as good evidence for alien visitation. They are unidentified objects in the sky. Nothing more. Not even that mysterious.

The second one looks like 15-20 reflective balloons tied together.

I’m not sure what it is, but as it rotated, did I see the face of Jesus?

I was thinking along the same lines… It’s common to see a bunch of black balloons together.

I find it interesting how culture shapes the interpretation of these events. When you see these on TV and listen for the original audio, Mexicans often go for a supernatural explanation–like a bruja, or witch–when American UFO enthusiasts will see aliens, in the very same video. It can’t be both, obviously.
