India issues advisory over TV programs on the occult

I&B Ministry forbids TV from airing shows on the ‘occult’ : North News – India Today.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory to all TV channels against telecasting programmes promoting superstitions and blind belief.

Many civil society organisations and media critics have alleged that such programmes promote irrationality and hinder the development of scientific temper.

Ok. I think my brain just broke, for two reasons. First, can you even IMAGINE the governments of the U.S. or other western nations putting a halt to supernatural shows? I can’t. It’s inconceivable.

Second, there was a story yesterday about the India officials promoting homeopathy over effective medicine. Talk about hindering development of a scientific temper…

Wha!?
